Lakes in the Woodland!

Yes there are!  Two quite lovely lakes stocked with lakeland fish like you would wish to find.  The variety of fish ranges from small Roach, to Bream, Perch and the ubiquitous Carp.  For just £5 you can fish here all day if you wanted (that’s about  $8 US or Canadian).  Otherwise – just enjoy the environment, picnic – maybe take lunch or dinner at The Beacon!

My trek through the woodland took me via some lovely  pathways and around the three lakes that invite fishing, painting or sketching if you wish – and if you have your camera with you, some photography of the woodland itself and the wide variety of wildlife found here (waiting and watching is the game!).  See the other pages documenting some of the wildlife and birds you are likely to find here.  Not all of them are here during the same season but you never know when Canadian Geese might drop in, a Kingfisher might appear, a dragon fly or the elusive owl will fly at dusk.  Fortunately the lakes attract much more wildlife than you might ordinarily expect – so be ready with your camera for stills or movie!
